Do you need an EU authorized representative? If you're a manufacturer outside the EU, yes. Without one, your device can't be placed on the EU market at all. The rule is short. For each generic device group, you designate one sole authorized representative, established in the EU. And the mandate is valid only once the representative accepts it in writing. Medical devices and IVDs follow the same rule. At minimum, the mandate makes your representative check that your declaration and technical documentation have been drawn up, keep copies for authorities for at least 10 years, or 15 for implants, register in EUDAMED, and pass on complaints immediately. And the stakes are real. If a non-EU manufacturer fails its obligations, the representative is legally liable for defective devices, jointly and severally with the manufacturer. Start with three things. One: sign a written mandate for each device group. Two: give your representative your latest technical documentation. Three: put its name and address on your label. A sole representative per device group. Pure Global covers registration, in-country representation, quality systems, audits and cybersecurity, in more than 30 markets. Visit pureglobal.com.
